Recently I noticed myself falling into an alarming trap. At the end of long and stressful days, it was easier to turn on the TV than to do something more healthy. My self-argument went something like this, "I'm so tired, I just relax with a mindless TV show."
The problem was this: I could not find anything uplifting and aligned with my spiritual values. Too often the program involved either the murder of someone-usually a female- or some form of conflict. Even the Discovery Channel has "It Could Happen Tomorrow" shows, filled with gloom and pending doom.
When I'm relaxing before bed, I want to nurture my mind. I want positive thoughts feeding my dreams, not negativity.
Besides, I REALLY don't want advertisers to plant their messages in my subconscious. Doing just that is why they spend billions of dollars every year on creating commercials.
Instead, I have opted to paint, read good books or watch movies from the
Spiritual Cinema Circle. If I going to ease onto the sofa, I want to feed my brain positive food. I also have books to read lying next to my bed. I sometimes read passages from books like Ancient Pact, Rumi, Ghandi, Esther Hicks (Abraham) and Marianne Williamson.
